Preparations for a Tooth Extraction

Posted .

Do you have a severely decayed or damaged tooth? If you are needing a tooth pulled to fully restore your healthy smile, there are some things to do before the procedures. To help you prepare for a tooth extraction when you visit your dentist, Dr. Todd Eder, our Brownsburg Family Dental Care dental team has the following three tips for you:

Tip # 1- The worst thing you can do on the day of your appointment is to be late, so make sure you call our office and confirm the time of your appointment. We also recommend confirming your travel plans. Please have someone drive you to and from your appointment because the dental sedative will not make it safe for you to drive.

Tip # 2- For a smooth treatment, we recommend fasting 8-12 hours before your appointment. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before you come into our office. However, if you have a health condition that does not make this possible, please call our office and inform us of the situation.

Tip #3- If you ask your dentist for details about the extraction, you will know exactly what to expect and you’ll be able to use the time between appointments to prepare. Knowing what to expect might also help you feel more calm and relaxed rather than scared and nervous.

If you are prepared for your appointment, the tooth extraction process will be easier for you. Just remember that you will have the care and support of our dental team at Brownsburg Family Dental Care if you ever need anything or if you have any questions about tooth extraction in Brownsburg, Indiana. We also encourage you to call 317-852-4593 now if you need any help preparing for your appointment.
